I'm Like The Birds
That fly and live in freedom in a true democracy.

Where?
Where?

In the United States of America.

It was long before
My childhood when Venezuela was free
I dreamed deeply and already awakening as an adult:

“Reliable are my principles
And my commitments
In a free land”

The American soil.

I have
History in poetry
Since I stepped on your floor
I felt the strength and hope reborn.

I want to talk
On behalf of millions of immigrants
Since I stepped on your floor
I felt I was not alone
And anguish brought
Quickly she disappeared
Adding strength and hope
A positive current
That fed the way
That would be long but full of good news.

Building, growing,
Based on an internal power
Where I had to strengthen my childhood dreams
Difficult start
But wisdom and wishes of progress
They made three strangers
The grandeur of living in a free land.

Think to feel
That there were born
And we grew up here
Kindness and charity
He became the miracle
Luck, magic, perseverance,
It was the beating of human reason.

We are transition
Of one of the last
Generating many years
Everyone at the table
Indispensable knife and fork
Thank God
The good morning, good afternoon, good evening,
The blessing
Kiss and hug his parents

Health and say:

"Death penalty to stretch the arms and
Open your mouth as a sign of fatigue”

Today we suffer in silence
The world changed course dramatically
I keep in my heart the nostalgia of yesterday
And just pray

"Let's go back to what we were
Home of traditions
Where he reigned the love and peace
And we stay at this writing
Seeking past history
In support of what was and what could be again
 The education I miss"

Sincerely,

Hugo Alfredo Valecillos La Riva
A Venezuelan poet.
